Hello there!
After years of searching I think I’ve finally decided what I want to do ‘when I grow up.’ Having always had a love for interiors and the things that create a space, yet, never particularly wanting to pursue a career in Interior Design, I quite recently had a bit of a light-bulb moment when I realised there is such a thing as an Interior Stylist. This blog will hopefully document my journey from model-slash-bar tender-slash-crazy cat lady to a fully fledged Stylist and a little bit about life along the way.

Hi! So i found your blog while on Apartment Therapy. And after reading you “About” section I see you want to be an interior stylist. So don’t I!!
I was wondering what are you doing about it? Where do you look for jobs in this area without a degree (which I don’t have either)? Thanks in advance and sorry for the randomness! 🙂

It really does seem like the dream career doesn’t it!! So far I’ve only been working as an assistant and to do that I just tracked down working stylists and asked if I could come along and do unpaid work experience. I’ve now done two work experience placements as well as paid work with both of those stylists. They’ve since passed on my details to other people who I’ve done paid work for so I definitely think it’s worth offering to work for free for the chance to prove yourself! It can take a long time to get replies to your emails but on the whole everyone replies eventually, it seems like everyone who works in the industry is genuinely lovely and willing to help you if they can!

Your amazing! Thanks for the reply! That’s so great. I just have to find interior stylists here in Maine, I’ve only seen interior designers but nobody really offering styling, hmm 🙂
